MAIA News Updates

The news is flying here this morning- so much for those breathing exercises we did on Friday. Please check the homepage –® – for the latest.

NFIP Suspended…Again
Congress adjourned without extending the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). The NFIP’s authority has been suspended as of midnight Sunday, March 28th and is likely to remain that way until mid-April. FEMA has issued this guidance for agents and WYO Companies.

RMV-AAA Program Ends
Massachusetts Agents will want to make sure they read the most recent edition of the Registry News, which was published late last Friday. The year-long pilot program which gave AAA offices in Newton and Worcester the ability process several RMV transactions ended Friday, March 26th.  At this time, the RMV is still reviewing the proposal brought by MAIA, which outlines the 12 RMV transactions that could be done by insurance agents.  (For details on that proposal see the November 6th edition of The Massachusetts Agent.)

MAIA Email
We are experiencing some difficulties with our email service provider change. Unfortunately, this transition is not going quite as smoothly as we hoped.  We’d like to thank everyone for their patience. I know that many of our members are used to seeing speedy email responses, and believe me …we can’t wait to get back to that! Until then, please feel free to contact us by phone or fax.
