The Big Event – Registration is OPEN

On your mark. Get set. Go! Registration is open for The Big Event, the annual Massachusetts Agent’s Association convention & trade show. This year’s convention falls over Halloween (Oct. 29- Nov. 1) so be warned and be ready for some fun, especially at the Saturday Reception.

Our lovely marketing department really gets the brunt of the work done, but we all play a part in getting this show on the road. One of the tasks I am charged with is to write up the bios of the speakers for their introductions. I like this task because it forces me to read the entire schedule and the details of every class. Here are some things I’ve seen and am excited for:

The New Personal Lines Certification – PIP  – Taught by Kathy Silvia, the PIP Certification is a New Certification just for Personal Lines Account Managers. This new rigorous course is being unveiled this year and will only be offered at the Big Event. The course is sponsored by Commerce Insurance.

How to Really Work a Room: Make the Most of a Networking Event – I know some people are networking naturals, but I’ll admit- I’m not. I am much more comfortable in the corner of an event hiding behind a glass of Chardonnay than working the room and I don’t think I’m alone. This session sounds great for people like me.

Are You Covered MA Auto, Homeowners & Umbrella Game Challenge – Two of my favorite MAIA Instructors, Mike D’Orlando and Marshall Katz, teamed up in one room…together…for 3 hours! Could it get any more exciting? Unless you added Irene Morrill to this roster, I HIGHLY doubt it. This is a post-conference intensive, so if you want to attend this one make you’re registered for Sunday.

The video corner – tucked away behind the registration booth, we’ll be setting up the big screen and those comfy red chairs again. My favorite part of this….we’ll be playing a special salute to the supernatural on Saturday.

Why go to the Big Event? It’s a great opportunity to network with venders, see old friends, meet your association staff, meet your E&O Underwriter, and grab a few CE credits (or maybe cut your supply budget by coming home with a Safety Bag full of pens from the Trade Show). The Big Event is an important part of MAIA’s mission to serve the Independent Agent’s of Mass and we hope to see you there.

Loved your blog today, and the information on the Big Event. I would just like to remind people that if they want to take advantage of the $75 three day licensing class, they better register quickly so that they can get their study material in time.
Hope to see you all in Boston.
